James is the Founder and Principal of Alpine Vistas, a Vancouver-based search fund focused on acquiring and operating one exceptional Canadian lower middle market business. He established Alpine Vista with the belief that many outstanding privately owned businesses deserve thoughtful succession solutions that preserve their legacy while positioning them for long-term growth.

James earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Finance from the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business, where he developed a strong interest in entrepreneurship through acquisition, private capital, and operational leadership. During his time at UBC, he led investment initiatives, competed in national case competitions, and completed internships focused on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and business strategy.

Prior to launching Alpine Vistas, James built experience evaluating privately held businesses, supporting acquisition opportunities, and advising entrepreneurs on strategic growth initiatives. He worked across financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, and market research, developing a disciplined investment approach grounded in fundamental analysis and long-term value creation.

Outside of work, James enjoys skiing throughout British Columbia, hiking in the Coast Mountains, mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, and following developments in private markets and Canadian business. He is passionate about building enduring companies and believes successful ownership begins with trust, integrity, and a long-term commitment to the people behind every business.
